What Lies Beneath

I wanted the illustration to feel unsettling without relying on overt horror. The bright cyan eyes and organic shapes of the transformed side were designed to immediately draw the viewer's attention, while the calm expression and direct eye contact create a sense of quiet confidence rather than fear. The gesture and framing reinforce the idea that the character is willingly keeping a secret rather than struggling to conceal it.

The limited palette of gold, magenta, black, and cyan was chosen to strengthen the contrast between the familiar and the unknown while maintaining visual cohesion across the piece. This project served as an exploration of character storytelling through symbolism, lighting, and visual design.
